Instrumental in the launch of RDC’s Animation and Visual Effects Program
Peter teaches in the Red Deer College Animation and Visual Effects program. His teaching experience and program and curriculum development has reached across multiple universities, trade schools and fine art schools throughout the USA, Canada and Central Europe. Whenever he can, Peter is travelling to remote, exotic places. Then he works to recreate them as virtual experiences for others to enjoy.
Peter is at RDC because it gave him the chance to build an animation program that encompasses all of the things he needed his team to know during his time as a Modelling Lead in VFX for feature films. The program is designed to include all the skills he wished he had been taught in school. Some of the more memorable films he worked on include Twilight, Angels and Demons, and lnvictus.
Peter played an instrumental role in the successful launch of RDC’s new animation program. Peter used his years of VFX for feature film practical industry experience to plan the flow of the 4-year AVFX program. During this process, Peter helped to successfully bring in numerous industry external practitioners to collaborate on the development of numerous courses.
With relentless commitment to the program, Peter says there is still a great deal of work to be done to ensure the new AVFX degree continues to be successful years into the future. The success of the program is measures both through the eyes of the AVFX program graduates, as well the major industry players hiring the graduates. Peter strives to ensure the program reflects a continued commitment to industry relevance.
